Western Australian Speedway Commision

WASC was appointed by the government of WA.
The Administrator together with the assistance of the Board of Commissioner's, three Advisory Committees, the Stewards Control Board, the ministry of Sport & Recreation, the Health Department and the fraternity of speedway have created many safety standard guidelines and other relevant information to assist all WA stakeholders. These include:-
Scrutineering Guidelines, for all divisions (4-wheel, bikes and Demo Derby vehicles), this covers both the competitors racing apparel and the racing vehicle.
Common Rules Book, for all 4-wheel divisions.
Charter Book 'How to Promote a Race Meeting', the information starts from four months prior to the start of the race season and covers all areas including promotion, gaining sponsorship, creation of your program and commentating tips.
First Aid / Medical & Fire Safety Standards Book, this information was created in conjunction with a representative from St John's Ambulance, covering all relevant safety issues for both the medical and fire safety standards.

Safety Issues Bulletin, this has been created to update all divisions and tracks on the various safety issues that arise within a division that maybe of concern to another division or to a tracks safety standards.
Fatal / Serious Injury Procedure, this has been created to assist tracks in the correct procedure to take when dealing with a serious injury or death. This document has also been presented to the State Coroner's office.
Officiating Manual, this manual describes all the functions required by any level official / steward and what courses need to be completed to gain certain level accreditation.
Job Description Book, this book gives the roles and responsibilities of all levels of stewards.
Various Policies as directed by the State Government, Anti-Harassment, Child Protection and Return to Play.
Volunteer Management Program, which will aid clubs in recruitment, retaining and recognition of these various positions.
The Sport Development Committee are also creating Standardised Contracts between the clubs and divisions, completed a user friendly Action Plan for Club Meetings and Track Log Books which aid in visiting divisions knowing information regarding the track and where they can stay in the area.
The Safety & Regulations Committee have in place a New Divisions Criteria.
The Stewards Control Board have in conjunction with the Officiating Manual created a Job Description Book for all positions of officiating.
The Commission offers itself to act as a mediator between divisions, clubs, promoters.
Development of the Safety Standards Guidelines, created with the assistance of the Health Department, to raise the standards of safety within the speedway fraternity.
Assistance with sourcing new avenues for Insurance.
The restructure of the Commission to include 6 Special Interest Advocates, representing the five National Divisions and one position for the Promoters represented from all tracks in WA. this will give ALL divisions the chance to have a voice on at Board level and contribute to how their sport is managed / developed.
The Stewards Control Board are conducting training and accreditation courses for all stewards at all levels within the sate.
The Commission's office staff are available to assist clubs/divisions in all areas of administration work and are able to assist in the souring and application of grants and/or funding.
